Cancer is more than a physical ailment; it challenges the mind, body, and spirit. At Love & Healing, we provide a compassionate and integrative approach to cancer healing, combining evidence-based practices with the wisdom of holistic health.
It was in July 2007 that Jaishree was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, a life-altering moment that would test her strength and resilience in unimaginable ways. She recalls how it all began with subtle but persistent symptoms—low energy, bloating, and a constant heaviness in her stomach. Over time, these symptoms worsened. “I experienced heavy blood loss during menstrual cycles, and eventually, my abdominal pain became unbearable. My stomach was so distended, I looked nine months pregnant,” she shares.
At first, Jaishree was terrified. The thought of something serious loomed large, but like many, she desperately hoped for a different outcome. For nearly a year, she had been feeling unwell, yet her doctor never suggested consulting a gynecologist. “I, too, resisted the idea—until things got worse,” she admits. By sheer chance, an article in The Times of India about ovarian cancer caught her eye. It turned out to be the pivotal moment she needed.
The article listed symptoms that felt eerily familiar. Trusting her instincts, Jaishree insisted on seeing a gynecologist instead of continuing with her gastroenterologist. But even then, she faced resistance. “My doctor dismissed my concerns and referred me to a gynecologist only reluctantly. And after that appointment, I still didn’t feel reassured. Something inside me told me to dig deeper,” she recalls.
Following her intuition, she reached out to a trusted friend’s husband, a radiologist in the oncology department of a leading hospital in Mumbai. His guidance became a turning point. “He reviewed my reports and connected me with the best oncology surgeon and chemotherapist in the country. They took charge of my treatment, and I finally felt I was in the right hands,” she says.
But the battle was far from over. Just nine months after her initial diagnosis, Jaishree faced a devastating relapse in October 2008. Her body was already reeling from the first major surgery and rounds of chemotherapy. The news was shattering. “I felt like I had hit rock bottom. Another surgery, more chemotherapy—how was I going to endure it all again?” she confesses.
The journey was filled with fear, pain, and uncertainty. Yet, amidst it all, Jaishree found an inner strength that kept her going. It was her determination, trust in her instincts, and the unwavering support of skilled medical professionals that ultimately shaped her fight against cancer. “Looking back, I realize how important it was to listen to my body and advocate for myself,” she reflects.

I , Shashi Shinde, from Belgaum, Karnataka. I am a cancer patient. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 and took full treatment. In 2020 I had the secondary and had spread in almost whole of my body. I had Pleura effusion and was successfully operated. Doctors wanted me to take Chemo. But I refused. I had only four months or less to live. Meantime a friend Jyoti Dalmia told me about Sharan Group. They were holding a workshop and I attended the same on line. Jaishree ji motivated and inspired me to change my life style to plant based food. I am living example of the good result and all that I learnt at Sharan Group. It’s five years and am still alive.I learnt lot many things at the workshop. Green and fruit smoothies, cooking oil free food, positive attitude, meditation, express gratification, has changed my life. I am living example of what I learnt at SHARAN GROUP and leading peaceful life. From the core of my heart am grateful to Jaishree ji who inspired and motivated me to bring change in my lifestyle. Also all the Sharan Staff who helped me learn so many things. I am a Big Fan of the whole Sharan Group including Dr. Nandita Shah , I love listening to her talks.I am 75 now. You gave me five good healthy life. Thank you so much. Words can’t express. Am grateful to God and to you.
My husband was incredibly supportive, constantly trying to keep me positive and motivated. However, I could see how much the news had affected him—he seemed so weighed down by worry that at times, he looked like the patient himself. His only real distraction was his work, which gave him some respite from the stress.
My daughter was extremely tense and couldn’t shake the fear that our time together might be running out. Her anxiety was palpable, and it broke my heart to see her so distressed.
My son, though I knew he carried his own fears, became a pillar of strength for me. During my treatment, I felt he was one of my biggest supports, always offering quiet but steadfast encouragement when I needed it most.
One moment that deeply moved me was when a good friend visited me at the hospital. She told me, “You need to live for yourself, and that’s why you must come out of this illness.” Her words struck a chord within me and gave me a new perspective on fighting this battle—not just for others, but for myself.
Another unforgettable moment was when my daughter broke down after my surgery, upon hearing the laboratory reports. She cried so much, overwhelmed by the fear of losing me. Seeing her tears made me cry as well, but in that moment, I reassured her: “Don’t worry, I will be there on your wedding day.” From that point onward, I kept telling myself that I had to come out of this, not just for her, but as a stronger and healthier version of myself.
Looking back, I feel the Divine was guiding me all along, opening doors for the healing and strength I needed to recover. That guidance helped me rise again—healthier, happier, and filled with hope.
It happened on one of my lowest days. A friend visited me and handed me a book—an old, tattered copy with no cover page. I was in no mood to read and scolded her for bringing me a book when I was so unwell. She simply said, “It might help,” and left.
Out of curiosity, I flipped through the pages and stumbled upon a chapter about the inner child. Those few lines sparked something within me, and I became intrigued. Despite my initial resistance, I ended up reading the entire book in just two hours, with tears streaming down my face. That book was a turning point in my journey. It changed how I viewed my illness, and for the first time, I began to see it from a completely different perspective.
Now, looking back after so many years, I strongly believe that every cancer patient should consult a health or wellness coach alongside their medical treatment—someone who has not only survived cancer but also taken full responsibility for their healing through an inside-out approach.
Hospitals and conventional treatments primarily focus on an outside-in approach. But I feel that when someone goes through cancer, they must also heal their mind, because when the mind heals, the body inevitably follows.
There were many moments when I felt like giving up or breaking down, especially when the journey became unbearably tough. The magnitude of the illness and the fear of suffering would often overwhelm me.
But each time I reached that point, something or someone would appear to help me through—a well-wisher, a timely training session or workshop, an inspiring book, or even a warm healing touch from a friend, extended family, or sometimes total strangers.
In those dark moments, I found solace in Healing practices like EFT (Emotional freedom techniques), Ho'oponopono, journaling, repeating affirmations, spiritual chanting, or connecting with support groups. Sometimes, simply sitting quietly with myself helped me to process my fears and find the strength to keep going. These little moments of connection and self-care helped me bounce back, time and time again.
Inspired by the principles of SHARAN India, we emphasize the power of plant-based nutrition in boosting immunity and reducing inflammation. A carefully curated diet rich in whole, plant-based foods can create an environment in the body that inhibits cancer growth while promoting overall vitality.
